Summary : ~If you could wish for whatever you wanted, and keep it for half an hour, what would you wish for? Twin princes Barth and Aden are given this fairy-gift when they are named, and use it for unseemly purposes. The fairy responsible for giving them this gift is already under house-arrest for earlier lobster-related crimes... While the King and Queen wish they could train their boys how not to end up slaves to "whatever their hearts desire", it may take something more... Or perhaps a someone with a pigeon in his pocket.~ The reputable gnome, Sir Neltum Furnabay, is thought to have first recorded this volume and to be the one responsible for leaving it under a wheelbarrow in my vegetable garden, (and there were very clear little tracks between the carrots). I asked my cat if she thought it was Neltum, and if she had given him a hard time in delivering the manuscript (she likes to chase things) but she wouldnt say. But I suppose that gnomes are far too clever to get eaten by a house cat what with surviving Lagon-Cockles, and criminal fairies, and uncouth garden parties already. I also suppose that he would have left the manuscript with the intent that more people would get to read it than just me. I suppose it to be an honest history of Fenathon, and the royal family there, and really written by this particular gnome, because no gnome that Ive ever met has been in the habit of just making up stories or assuming false pen names. Only humans do that sort of thing. I hope you are having a good day, Dear Reader, and that you will consider this brilliant work well worth your time.

Summary : Untouched by both time and tourism, the fishing port of Essaouira, Morocco, is known for its prostitutes, black magic, con artists, ghosts—and the legend of a virgin who once lured mariners to her lighthouse, worked them into a frenzy of desire, and then devoured their hearts before they could steal her innocence. Sebastian is a young, easy-going, generous English businessman living in Spain who decides to buy a small apartment in Essaouira with the hope of learning Arabic. Instead, however, he is convinced by his half-brother, Roger, to purchase a thirteen-room brothel and convert it into a hotel. As rumours suggest that the ghost virgin, Aïsha Qandeesha, still haunts the streets—enticing victims to the cemetery and then tearing them to shreds—Sebastian is mesmerized by the previous brothel owner’s stories that there is a buried treasure within the house. But after he hires the madame’s former maid, Aïda, to work for him, problems begin that cause Sebastian to wonder whether tragedy will follow him forever. Magic Lobsters and Flying Tagines is the tale of one man’s attempt to open a boutique hotel in an exotic country as he is helplessly controlled by the strange twists and turns of his destiny.

This comprehensive reference brings together all that is known of these fascinating animals. It will appeal to biologists, zoologists, aquaculturalists, fishery biologists, and researchers working with other lobster species, as well as neurobiologists looking for more information on the model system they so often use. First comprehensive book on the American lobster since Herrick's century-old monograph Provides crucial background for neurobiologists who use this crustacean as a model organism Contains a comprehensive treatment of the lobster fishery and its management

Summary : Squat lobsters of the superfamilies Chirostyloidea and Galatheoidea are highly visible crustaceans on seamounts, continental margins, shelf environments, hydrothermal vents and coral reefs. About 1000 species are known. They frequently feature in deep-sea images taken by submersibles and are caught in large numbers by benthic dredges. Some species are so locally abundant that they form ‘red tides’. Others support a variety of important fisheries. The taxonomy of squat lobsters has been intensively studied over the past few decades, making them one of the best known deepwater crustacean groups. As a result, they have attracted the attention of deep-sea ecologists who use them as proxies to test hypotheses about deepwater ecological processes and biogeography. Interest in squat lobsters now extends much more widely than the taxonomic research community and this work is a timely synthesis of what is known about these animals. The Biology of Squat Lobsters provides keys for identification and reviews the current state of knowledge of the taxonomy, evolution, life history, distribution, ecology and fisheries of squat lobsters. A striking feature of squat lobsters is their vivid coloration, which is revealed in a selection of spectacular images of different species.

Summary : Spiny lobsters are among the world's most valuable and highly prized seafoods, captured and marketed in over 90 countries. Demand for spiny lobsters has escalated in the past two decades, spurring the need both for better management and for research on which to base that management. Spiny lobster aquaculture, however, now appears to be a real possibility, some countries have already approved the legislation, and it may be only a few years before this becomes the major source. The book opens with a brief review of the general biology, distribution, fishing techniques etc. but the major emphasis is on the latest management strategies, developments in aquaculture, marketing and economics. A special feature of the book will be detailed reviews of the spiny lobster fishery, research activities and marketing process in Japan, where customers are willing to pay more than US$50 per pound for live lobsters.
