Summary : In times past those suffering from cyclical dementia were frequently referred to as suffering from "lunar madness". The book's title, Storms on the Sea of Tranquility is an allusion to that practice. The Sea of Tranquility is of course a geographical feature of our moon. Ironically, those suffering from lunar madness frequently lived a pattern of near normal tranquility that was interrupted cyclically by angry storms of manic madness or deep depression. The book follows the life of a young lady, one Mae Bailey as she struggles with an untreated mental illness. Her family, like most families of the 1950's feared the stigma that a mentally ill family member might bring upon them. They failed to acknowledge her disease and instead covered up her irrational behavior in her manic cycles and the deep depression that also often followed. Ultimately, Mae ends up deserted by both of the men who have fathered her children. Alone and very troubled she and her children enter the welfare system. As she slides deeper into alcoholism, prostitution and a life plagued by mental illness she loses her children to foster care. The book follows the journey that her children travel as they go through the foster care system. It chronicles the difficulties for both the foster children and their foster parents as they travel the difficult path of foster care. The story tells of the heart wrenching separation of the children as two of them are adopted and the other left to survive in the system until he is grown. The book celebrates those more noble among us who reach out to intervene in the life of those most vulnerable among us, foster children. Although fictionalized, the experiences of the book are real life experiences, experienced by the author.

The two of them have lost touch, but when Rachel doesn't come home one night, Becca is called in to help. Once there, she quickly realizes that her stepsister's life is not so perfect after all: Rachel's handsome husband has moved out, her children are rebelling, and her glamorous career has taken a nosedive. Worst of all, nobody seems to have a clue where she might be. As Becca begins to untangle Rachel's secrets, she is forced to confront some uncomfortable truths about her own life, and the future seems uncertain. But sometimes happiness can be found in the most unexpected places . . .

Summary : "You never know where we'll end up. There's so much possibility in life, you know?" Hallie said. Sean Norwhalt can read between the lines. He knows Hallie's just dumped him. He was a perfectly good summer boyfriend, but now she's off to college, and he's still got another year to go. Her pep talk about futures and "possibilities" isn't exactly comforting. Sean's pretty sure he's seen his future and its "possibilities," and they all look DISPOSABLE. Like the crappy rental his family moved into when his dad left. Like all the unwanted filthy old clothes he stuffs into the rag baler at his thrift-store job. Like everything good he's ever known. The only hopeful possibilities in Sean's life are the Marine Corps, where no one expected he'd go, and Neecie Albertson, whom he never expected to care about. Carrie Mesrobian follows her critically acclaimed debut, Sex & Violence, with another powerful and wrenching portrait of a teenage boy on the precipice of the new American future.

Summary : On mankind’s last mission to the moon, a killer comes along for the ride Since the first manned spaceflight in 1944, NASA has conquered the outer atmosphere, explored Mars, and placed nuclear missiles on the moon. But funding for interstellar adventures—military or otherwise—has dried up. Now, NASA is planning a final lunar mission to pack up the remnants of man’s first extraterrestrial colony. The nuclear missiles are meant to be shot into the sun, but someone onboard the USS Conestoga would prefer to see them fired toward Earth. The night before the mission launch, one of the astronauts is kidnapped from his hotel room and replaced with a surgically altered body double. By the time the other astronauts uncover the deception, the Conestoga is too far from home for NASA to help. On the surface of the Moon, a decades-old conspiracy has reached its final stage, and Earth’s fate hangs in the balance.

Summary : Presley Marks has just become a cliché: the jilted bride. Wearing a white dress, standing in front of her friends and family, she announces that her fiancé—according to his text—has forgotten about the wedding. Humiliated and angry, she hides from the world in the mundane routine of her life. Working at the Clifton Forge Garage isn’t glamorous, but it’s safe from the spotlight. At least it was, until Shaw Valance comes to town. The notorious Hollywood actor is starring in a movie based on the town’s infamous murder. When he’s not on set, Shaw hovers at the garage, watching as they build his custom motorcycle and irritating her with his handsome smile. He was supposed to leave once filming wrapped and go back to his fancy life, not buy the house next door. But Shaw might regret that purchase once Presley’s ex-fiancé returns, bringing with him a war between old rivals that could burn both their houses down. ***** “It. Was. Perfection.
